Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, is planning to run an NFC trial in Moscow later this year, Russian business publication Kommersant reports. Both the Russian national railway operator RZD and the Moscow Metro have expressed interest in participating in the trial and Sberbank also expects a number of retailers to take part in the project.
Sberbank plans to issue NFC phones to 10,000 consumers for the trial. Last year, Russia's four mobile network operators announced plans to form an NFC Test Zone and to introduce their first NFC pilot this year.
